TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND THEFIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

We are pleased to send you information about the Postgraduate Fellowship Course on Transparency, Accountability and the Fightagainst Corruption (Diploma de Postítulo en Transparencia,Accountability y Lucha contra la Corrupción), organized by the HumanRights Center (Centro de Derechos Humanos – CDH) of the University ofChile's Law School.

This capacity-building program, which will takeplace from 10 March to 25 July 2008, will combine online teaching (17weeks) with classroom-based teaching and other academic activities(two weeks at the beginning and one week at the end of the course), inSantiago de Chile. The program, designed to train Latin Americanprofessionals working in the public sector, the private sector, civilsociety organizations and the international arena, will provideparticipants with an important theoretical foundationof fundamental concepts in this field.

They will study the principalareas and problems corruption presents to establishing awell-functioning democracy and to the exercise of fundamental rights.Likewise, they will examine the various strategies that have beenapplied, not only to eliminate this phenomenon, but also to builddemocraticsocieties that are more transparent, participatory, and respectful ofhuman rights.The program will offer a limited number of scholarships.
