MANAMA, Bahrain: Bahrain's Interior Ministry says an unmarked police car has been attacked and burned by dozens of people wielding fire bombs.
There were no injuries, however, in Friday night's attack, the statement said.
Also on Friday police fired tear gas at worshippers attempting to pray outside a mosque linked with one of the detained leaders.
Police forces have been deployed around villages in Bahrain following weeks of demonstrations by Shiites angry over the detention of several of their leaders on charges of seeking to destabilize the government.
The demonstrations in this tiny island kingdom hosting the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet have been fueled by economic disparities between the Sunni ruling elite and the Shiite majority
